Hello games released a video that highlights some of the features we'll be seeing in their upcoming "Foundation Update".
Some of the notable new features include base building, that allows users to craft their own base on planets. This is pretty damn cool if you think about how big the game is. If in the future they add the ability to have a more robust multiplayer experience, it would be pretty awesome to land on a planet and see it covered in space shanties. It also allows you to outfit stations with research, hydroponics, and storage, which may mean traffic from an alien race. When you're a bustling little space business, you need a big ship to transport goods to other planet's trade terminals. Luckily the update provides that with huge customizable freighters.
Other features include automated mining tools, updated UI, graphical updates, more storage stacking, and new modes (including a survival mode).
I sunk almost 30 hours into this game only to come away a bit numb to the whole novelty. We did originally rate the game favorably, but after a large amount of time, the repetitive nature of the environments with little direction and variety eventually resulted in me ending the galactic honeymoon. Can this update mend our broken relationship? We'll see.
The update is one of my free updates coming to players and is available now.
